On Thursday, June 14, 2018, William Shuzman was honored for 35 years of service within the construction industry at the Building Trades Employers’ Association of New York City 115th Annual Leadership Dinner.
For the past 35 years, Shuzman has served as the Executive Director and General Counsel of Allied Building Metal Industries, a trade association of unionized contractors engaged in the fabrication and erection of structural steel, architectural, ornamental, and miscellaneous metal products. His responsibilities have included the negotiation of collective bargaining agreements with four separate Iron Worker locals and two locals of the Operating Engineers. Shuzman also serves as Co-Counsel on the Iron Worker Taft-Hartley Benefit Funds for the Iron Worker Locals with whom Allied negotiates.
As Executive Director and General Counsel of the Steel and Ornamental Metal Institutes of New York, Mr. Shuzman has served as Chief Operating Officer of these organizations, which consist of every employer of unionized Iron Workers in the five boroughs of New York City, as well as Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester counties. Among his duties, he represented the aforementioned industries vis-a-vis city, state, and federal governmental agencies and elected officials in all matters of interest and impact to the iron working industry as well as the unionized construction industry at large.
The Institutes thank him for his decades of service and congratulate him on his well-deserved retirement.
